| Speed is affected by many things on
a pontoon. The amount and weight of people on board, their
position in the boat, the altitude, and even the water temperature,
believe it or not.
The following estimations
should not be seen as exclusive to Avalon & Tahoe brand
pontoon boats. Claims that others can guarantee you speeds or
performance in excess of the following should be investigated thoroughly.
Our goal is to provide you with information that will result in
your satisfaction, not just sell you a boat.
The following information is
based on 2 people on board.
A. A boat equipped with 2 pontoons and a
40 HP will go approximately 16 MPH thereafter you can add about
2 MPH for every 10 HP.
B. A boat equipped with 3 pontoons but not
High Performance fins. You can expect about 1 mph faster than
that.
C. Avalon and Tahoe's Center Tube system
with 3 pontoons & high performance fins are proven, fast,
exciting, well built boats that will provide an excellent
platform for water sports. See video - Avalon
CTS/HPP -- Tahoe
CTS/HPP . High performance speeds vary from model to
model. Models that have more furniture, or more furniture
positioned towards the front will achieve less speed &
performance. The propeller also has a great affect on speed and
performance. The stock propeller provided may not achieve
maximum speed and performance. You should work with your dealer
to get a propeller that meets your specific use. You should be
aware that there will be additional expense when changing
propellers, or going to a stainless steel or 4 blade propeller.
Following are speeds that we have seen in a
stock propeller configuration However there is no
guarantee of a specific speed for your rig. - A 90 Hp Motor
could go about 26-28 mph . A 115 HP could go about 28 - 32 mph.
a 150 could go 34 - 40 mph. With higher HP models, speeds vary
greatly depending on the HP, Boat model and the way the boat is
setup. You should consult your dealer to discuss the speed you
expect and what configuration will work best for you.
